Training
We'll get you there.
Initial new hire training for CoStar Research Associates lasts six weeks. Trainees spend the first two weeks in a classroom setting covering topics such as Corporate Overview, CoStar Positioning in the Industry, Commercial Real Estate definitions, Products Overview, and Research Systems/Techniques, etc. In the third week the trainees will sit with a Transition Manager practicing the concepts and techniques learned in the first two weeks, which replicates their actual job function, as they practice the actual day-to-day operations of their position. Week four the trainees are back in class for additional instruction, followed by two more weeks of transition training. This six-week format couples classroom instruction with the day-to-day work environment and practical applications to help ensure the highest level of success for the trainee. Following are details on some of the topics covered:
- Corporate Overview — Day 1 begins with an overview of the company’s history, our impact on the commercial real estate industry, the critical role of the research position, Human Resources and Facilities orientation and the basics of phone work.
- Commercial Real Estate 101 — This course offers a detailed discussion of commercial real estate definitions and the basic concepts needed to understand our products, our client’s needs, and our internal research systems.
- Product Overview — Hands-on usage of the core products including running basic searches and a related discussion of the product value to each industry segment. For example, how would a developer use our information in the analysis, planning and operational stages of building a 50-story office tower?
